Tali Nates

Founder and Director, Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre, South Africa

Tali Nates is the founder and director of the Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Centre, South Africa. In addition, she is one of the founders of Holocaust Survivors Services and Rwanda Genocide Survivors Services in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has lectured internationally on Holocaust education, genocide prevention, reconciliation, and human rights, and currently serves on the academic advisory group of the School of Social Science at Monash University in South Africa. Furthermore, Tali acts as a leader and scholar of Holocaust and Genocide study-tours to Eastern Europe and Rwanda. As a scholar, she has presented at numerous conferences, consulted on the production of various documentary films, and published numerous articles and book chapters, including her latest contribution titled God, Faith & Identity from the Ashes: Reflections of Children and Grandchildren of Holocaust Survivors. Born to a family of Holocaust survivors, her father and uncle were saved by Oskar Schindler. Tali was chosen as one of the top 100 newsworthy and noteworthy women in South Africa (Mail and Guardian) and was awarded the KIA Community Service Award. Tali is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
