Jessica Hjarrand

Global Program Manager, Porticus, Netherlands

Jessica Hjarrand is global program manager at Porticus, based in the Netherlands. Jessica is a systems thinker, advocate and technical specialist in education and early childhood development with more than 15 years of experience. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Moving Minds Alliance and chairs the Steering Group for the Early Childhood Regional Networks Fund. She is also the early childhood development Advisor to the Lorinet Foundation. Previously, Jessica was the advocacy coordinator for the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) and also served with UNESCO in a number of conflict affected countries as a project and program manager. She has also worked on education related projects in Colombia and Nepal, and spent many years as a teacher in primary, secondary and adult education, mainly with refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. Jessica has a Master of Philosophy in comparative and international education from the University of Oslo where she was a Fulbright scholar.
