A Lived Practice Symposium - Artists as Changemakers

Overview

Salzburg Global will convene an informal gathering of SGS Fellows from the Greater Chicago area to meet other Fellows and learn more about our programs and recent activities at the Schloss.  SGS President Stephen Salyer and Program Director Susanna Seidl-Fox look forward to greeting the Chicago Fellows.

Following the informal gathering, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) invites SGS Fellows to attend a public keynote lecture by Lewis Hyde "The Common Self"  at 6 p.m. at The Art Institute Chicago.  The keynote lecture is part of the Symposium  “A Lived Practice: Artists as Changemakers”, taking place at SAIC from 6-8 November 2014.

The intensive three-day symposium probes what we can learn from artists who are changing our communities and social landscape though their innovative cultural output and through the ways that they live their lives.  SGS Fellows are welcome to register for the Symposium that will continue from November 6-8.  Please refer to the Symposium's Schedule

The symposium is presented with the support of Salzburg Global Seminar, the Goethe-Institut Chicago, Federal Republic of Germany, Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago, and SAIC’s Visiting Artists Program.
