Changing Concepts of International Educational Exchange and Mobility

Abstract

The international mobility of students and professors, once rare, has become an increasingly common aspect of higher education throughout the world. What are the implications of the globalized flow of people in academia? What are the threats facing exchange and mobility programs in the current security climate, and how can they be addressed? What role can exchange programs and academic mobility play to foster greater intercultural understanding and dialogue in a world that is in dire need of more international awareness? Participants will also explore practical strategies for identifying and securing funding from governmental agencies, NGOs, and foundations, and develop institutional linkages to enhance existing programs and create new partnerships.
