Toward Inclusive Democracy: Nurturing Diverse Leadership in Public Policy

OVERVIEW

In 2024 more than half the world's population will reside in countries hosting nationwide elections – a historical juncture in democratic engagement. In Europe, Parliamentary Elections along with significant elections in member states, mean that the urgency to cultivate a new generation of leaders committed to inclusive democracy in public policy has never been more pronounced.

In recognizing the vital role these upcoming elections play in shaping the trajectory of the European Union, this program aims to empower and nurture diverse leaders aspiring to work in the field of public policy in Europe who will champion inclusive governance, foster equity, and uphold democratic values.

Participation in this meeting is limited to existing members of cohort 3 of the Public Policy New Voices Europe Fellowship.

Program Goals

This program aims to:
Empower Diverse Leadership: Foster the development of a diverse cohort of leaders equipped with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to navigate the complexities of a career in public policy.

Cultivate Inclusive Democracy: Provide participants with tools and strategies to promote inclusive democracy, ensuring that policies reflect the needs and aspirations of all citizens, irrespective of their background.

Address Systemic Inequalities: Tackle systemic inequalities by exploring and developing policy solutions that contribute to a more equitable and just society.

Create a Network for Change: Establish a vibrant and interconnected network of emerging leaders dedicated to inclusive democracy, fostering collaboration, idea exchange, and support beyond the duration of the program.

Program Format

Through a series of engaging workshops, thought-provoking panel discussions, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities, participants will gain valuable insights, knowledge, and skills necessary to navigate the intricacies of a career in public policy. The program will facilitate peer learning, mentorship, and collaboration, creating a supportive community that encourages the exchange of ideas and experiences.

By showcasing the innovative ideas of these emerging leaders, we can advance towards a more equitable, inclusive, and impactful future of public policy.

Participant Profile

The program is dedicated to fostering international, interdisciplinary, and intergenerational exchange by bringing together a vibrant community of emerging and established leaders, and change-makers, working in the field public policy in government, the private sector and in civil society.  

PUBLIC POLICY NEW VOICES FELLOWS
A cohort of 30 emerging leaders in the field of public policy from across Europe, who are members of the Public Policy New Voices Europe Fellowship will be at the center of the program.

ESTABLISHED LEADERS IN THE FIELD OF PUBLIC POLICY
Members of the Fellowship cohort will be joined by established leaders from the field of public policy who are committed to inclusive democracy through equitable and representative policymaking. This will include representatives of the partner companies who support the Fellowship along with invited thought leaders, mentors, and facilitators from the field.
