Advancing Together: Empowering Diverse Leadership in Public Policy

Schloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg, Austria

Public policy professionals across Europe do not adequately represent pluralism and multiculturalism within our societies. The lack of diverse leaders in policy-making leads to poorer policies, and therefore poorer outcomes. It is imperative to support leaders from diverse backgrounds to advance towards a future of public policy that is equitable, inclusive, and effective.

This program recognizes that true inclusivity extends beyond representation; it encompasses the power of exchange and collective action. By creating space for international, intergenerational and intersectoral exchange which engages individuals from diverse backgrounds, the program aims to forge alliances across generations, sectors, and communities.

Program Goals

The Advancing Together: Empowering Diverse Leadership in Public Policy program invites participants to advance together by challenging existing paradigms, embracing innovative approaches, and reimagining the future of public policy. The program will create an inclusive and dynamic environment that allows emerging leaders to share their thinking on how the most important challenges within the field of public policy should be tackled. By showcasing the innovative ideas of these emerging leaders, we can advance towards a more equitable, inclusive, and impactful future of public policy.

The program is dedicated to fostering international, interdisciplinary, and intergenerational exchange by bringing together a vibrant community of emerging and established leaders, and change-makers, working in the field public policy in government, the private sector and in civil society.

Program Format

Through a series of engaging workshops, thought-provoking panel discussions, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities, participants will gain valuable insights, knowledge, and skills necessary to navigate the intricacies of a career in public policy. The program will facilitate peer learning, mentorship, and collaboration, creating a supportive community that encourages the exchange of ideas and experiences.

During the Public Policy Challenge Fellows will work together in small groups to identify solutions to critical issues in public policy. They will develop innovative policy recommendations to address social, economic, environmental, technological, and political challenges. These emerging leaders will showcase their ideas through presentations and thought pieces, making a lasting impact.

Participation

PUBLIC POLICY NEW VOICES FELLOWS
A cohort of 30 emerging leaders in the field of public policy from across Europe, who are members of the Public Policy New Voices Europe Fellowship will be at the center of the program. These Fellows are already exercising leadership through their projects, institutions, and communities. They were selected through an open-call process early in 2023.

Recruitment for the third cohort of the Fellowship will open in Quarter 4 of 2023. Please visit the Apply page for further information.

LEADERS IN THE FIELD OF PUBLIC POLICY
Members of the Fellowship cohort will be joined by established leaders from the field of public policy who are committed to driving positive change through equitable and representative policymaking. This will include representatives of the partner companies who support the Fellowship along with invited thought leaders, mentors, and facilitators from the field.

If you are interested in participating in the program in a facilitation or mentoring role please contact Faye Hobson, Program Director for the Public Policy New Voices Fellowship.

DEI IN ACTION DIALOGUE
Join us for a unique and engaging opportunity during the program, where a carefully selected group of influential representatives from government, the private sector, and civil society will convene. Together, we will delve into the pressing issues of inclusion and equity within diverse cultures and policy contexts.

In today's interconnected world, companies and organizations operating internationally face the on-going challenge of navigating inclusion and equity in different geographical contexts. This DEI in Action Dialogue will provide a dedicated space for like-minded individuals to come together, share experiences, and collaboratively explore effective DEI strategies.

By participating in this dialogue, which is embedded within the Advancing Together program, you will have the chance to connect with a diverse network of emerging and established professionals who share your commitment to creating positive change.

For more information on participating in the DEI in Action Dialogue and the associated costs please contact Faye Hobson, Program Director for the Public Policy New Voices Fellowship.
