Sciana: The Health Leaders Network, Cohort 5 Meeting 3

Session Overview

The third residential meeting for Cohort 5 offers the Fellows an opportunity to continue working on their Sciana challenge of "Building a connected and sustainable health ecosystem based on One Health principles and approaches." In the previous meetings, Fellows split up into smaller working groups to work on specific areas in regards to their main topic:

  1. A future fit one health workforce – How will we build a connected and sustainable future fit workforce based on ONE HEALTH principles and approaches?
  2. Participatory strategies to strengthen One Health literacy and governance
  3. Building a digital health leadership programme to help and enable leaders adopt technology across healthcare settings – How can we develop future leaders who are equipped to use technology to improve health (eco)systems?

This meeting will be crucial for the participants to achieve three main objectives:

  1. Identify key drivers of change for leadership challenges: Fellows will identify key drivers of change for the Sciana leadership challenge within each country and across countries. The meeting aims to provide guidance on how to deal with leadership challenges in One Health.
  2. Discussion on the relevance of realizing the SDGs within countries: Cohort 5 will examine how national agendas can be aligned with the global sustainability goals outlined in the SDGs. Rather than focusing solely on integrating SDG targets into local initiatives, the session will also delve into understanding Sciana Fellow initiatives related to One Health in the context of broader SDG goals, particularly regarding environmental concerns.
  3. Define the outcomes and deliverables of the cohort’s applied leadership project: Fellows will engage in collaborative discussions to outline the specific deliverables and outcomes,  they aim to achieve by the fourth meeting. By establishing clear objectives and milestones, Cohort 5 sets the stage for focused action and impact in their pursuit of advancing the One Health movement.

Besides addressing these objectives, the meeting agenda encompasses a range of activities designed to foster collaboration, negotiation abilities, and knowledge sharing. Participants can expect a comprehensive programme tailored to their impact as systems leaders. The programme includes Fellow and expert-led sessions on digital health and patient-centric care, interactive workshops to prepare leaders for future challenges and more.

As Cohort 5 convenes for this gathering, they commit to driving progress in the field of One Health. Through collective effort and strategic collaboration, participants will harness their leadership abilities to navigate complex challenges and champion sustainable solutions that resonate on both local and national scales.
