SALZBURG GLOBAL LGBT* FORUM

Past Program

Apr 10, 2020 Session 668

Coming Together in Times of COVID-19

Online

The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting communities worldwide – the LGBT* community is no exception. As a community that is both often ostracized when receiving physical and mental healthcare and has already lived through decades of stigma attached to another epidemic – HIV/AIDS – the LGBT* community especially needs support to find strength and resilience.

Acknowledging the isolation and anxieties that many of its Fellows are currently facing, the Salzburg Global LGBT* Forum has initiated a series of online meetings to provide a space for them to share the challenges they are facing, the anxieties with which they are dealing, and the opportunities they have discovered amid this crisis.

Program Focus

As the first meeting of the series LGBT* Communities in Times of COVID-19, this small online meeting of Fellows of the Salzburg Global LGBT* Forum focused on the benefit and priorities of strengthening the Salzburg Global LGBT* Forum network via online engagement.

The meeting provided a space for Fellows to share their experiences during a pandemic that has affected the world unlike any other in memory. It also sought to renew the sense of union among the Fellows and presented an opportunity to learn about and develop new capacities and opportunities through various online platforms.

The discussion was moderated by Klaus Mueller, Chair and Founder of the Salzburg Global LGBT* Forum. Participants in the meeting welcomed the new series initiative as a much needed support against often sobering news.

Program Participation

This program was open to Fellows of Salzburg Global LGBT* Forum series only.
