The Sustainable Futures Academy (SFA) is an emerging international collaboration of members of the higher education sector, government, philanthropists, non-profit organizations and business.
We share a belief that the higher education sector can be one of society’s greatest assets for solving the global challenge of fundamental “unsustainability”, the result of a convergence of major problems including a perilous decline in the stability of the earth’s life support systems and the escalating inequalities in the distributions of wealth and access to resources.
The SFA has recognized that senior higher education leaders need access to a proven leadership development program that will advance their leadership capabilities, develop their personal vision and provide access to a network of senior peers engaged in a similar transformation challenge. Because over 90% of higher education students in the coming decade will be from developing nations the program must be accessible to leaders from all around the world, including those that come from countries experiencing the greatest demand for development, the greatest impacts from environmental degradation and the greatest growth in student enrollment.
